Back in the day, these were the community laundry facilities

An interesting door covering. They were all over the place and were made of wood, plastic, or metal like this one. We never did find out what its purpose is, but we guessed it served as a sort of screen door in summer time

Looking up from Pampaneira (foreground) to Capileira (you can barely see it up in the top part of the picture), another town higher up in the mountains

Looking down at Pampaneira after hiking up to Capileira...(it was a beautiful but definitely uphill hike :0)

Marisa, The pics are fantastic! I especially like that first "artistic" one. And I freaking LOVE schwarma! I think some letters get left out in the German name, but it's all the same. There were lots of Turkish people in Freiburg, and Doener and Kebab houses everywhere, and this really excellent felafel place called Sesam where I used to eat really good schwarma...*sigh* I want to go back. I MISS YOU! *b

Marisa,

I liked all of the "artistic" photography. It is so refreshing to see Black & White photographs! My fave is #1 and #4. I am enjoying reading of your adventures, and then seeeing what you have been seeing!

Take Care
Jef
